The fruit grows on thorny canes that reach a height of 5′-6′, and ripen in July. Black raspberries are nearly impossible to find in markets, and sell for prices twice that of red raspberries. They make the finest jams and jellies you’ve ever tasted. They are also the only fruit that grows well in shady conditions, and they even thrive growing under black walnut trees !
